At MindMap Psychological Assessments we provide various options for assessment and diagnosis of a range of conditions associated with learning, attention and behavioural difficulties across the lifespan. Our fees are calculated in accordance with the time required for the assessment, which typically includes an initial interview, assessment appointments, completion of a comprehensive written report, and a feedback appointment.

Functional Assessment of Learning - Literacy & Numeracy

A Functional Assessment of Learning – Literacy and Numeracy explores concerns related to difficulties with reading, writing, spelling and mathematics. This assessment assists in determining strengths and weaknesses, areas for intervention and if a diagnosis of a Specific Learning Disorder in Reading, Written Expression and/or Mathematics can be made.

  • ​Initial interview (telehealth) – discussion of developmental and educational history, past interventions and other relevant information.

  • Cognitive assessment.

  • Academic assessment – reading, writing, spelling and mathematics.

  • Phonological processing assessment.

  • Comprehensive psychological report – includes recommendations and a professional diagnosis if criteria are met.

  • Feedback appointment – discussion of assessment findings and recommendations.

Assessment of Adaptive Functioning

An Assessment of Adaptive Functioning explores concerns regarding an individuals’ cognitive ability and the impact on their adaptive skills such as self-care, decision-making, communication and learning. This assessment provides insight into strengths and weaknesses, identifies areas where intervention and support would be beneficial, and determines whether criteria for a diagnosis of Intellectual Disability are met.

Attention & Regulation Assessment

This assessment explores concerns related to attention, concentration, impulsivity and hyperactivity. This process explores whether an individual meets the diagnostic criteria for ADHD. Please note while psychologists can provide a diagnosis of ADHD, we cannot prescribe medication. A diagnosis from a psychologist is often sought by individuals who want to explore their symptoms but aren’t looking to start medication, who want a report prior to seeing a psychiatrist or paediatrician, or who want to access support at school whilst awaiting an appointment for medication.

  • Clinical interview - exploration of history and presenting symptoms.

  • Cognitive assessment.

  • Behavioural assessment.
