We offer a range of assessment options designed to provide a deeper understanding of your child’s learning and behavioural needs. Each assessment includes an initial consultation to discuss your child's history and current concerns, assessment sessions tailored to them, a detailed written report, and a feedback appointment where we explain the results and discuss recommendations and practical next steps.

Functional Assessments of Learning
This assessment helps us understand how your child learns and processes information. It looks at their overall cognitive ability as well as areas such as reading, writing, spelling, and maths to identify strengths and any areas where your child may be finding things more difficult. This allows us to make a diagnosis of Specific Learning Disorder in Reading, Written Expression and/or Mathematics (commonly known as dyslexia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia) where appropriate, and provide information and practical recommendations so you, your child, and their school know how best to support their learning and confidence.

Cognitive and Adaptive Behaviour Assessments
A cognitive assessment explores your child’s overall thinking and reasoning skills, examining their cognitive strengths and weaknesses in relation to their ability to think, learn, remember, and solve problems. These assessments can also be used to explore giftedness, helping families and schools better understand and nurture a child’s advanced abilities. When needed, we also assess adaptive behaviour skills, everyday abilities such as communication, self-care, and social skills, to support diagnosis of Intellectual Developmental Disorder. Our goal is to provide a complete understanding of your child’s learning profile, so the right supports or enrichment opportunities can be put in place.

Add-On Assessment Options
If concerns with your child's attention and behavioural regulation are also present, this assessment can be added to a learning assessment. This process explores your child’s attention, focus, and self-regulation skills, using information gathered from parents, teachers, and your child. As psychologists, we can provide a a diagnosis of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, but we cannot prescribe medication, and further assessment by a paediatrician or psychiatrist may be required. This assessment allows us to give you clarity and practical strategies to support your child’s wellbeing and success at home and school.
